Net migration to the UK dramatically decreased to 431,000 in 2024, a significant drop from 860,000 the previous year. This decline is attributed to stricter work and study visa regulations implemented by the previous Conservative government. In response to political pressure, Labour Prime Minister Keir Starmer has also introduced new, stringent immigration policies.
