The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting of Bharat has cautioned OTT platforms to not to “inadvertently” promote, glamorise or glorify the use of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances through their content. It said that glamorising the use of drugs through portrayal by the main protagonist and other actors has serious repercussion, particularly regarding the potential influence on young and impresionable viewers.

It also cautioned that non-compliance can lead to further regulatory scrutiny, especially in the light of the provisions of the Information Technology Act, 2000 along with the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS), 1985.
