But get up in class to speak negatively about India and you will be given extra time to speak and applauded. As a result, many Indians are fitting themselves into the required narrative. Recently, I heard about one post-doc from India who naively thought he was duty-bound to explain to explain to profs and colleagues that NYT and WaPo were publishing false narratives.
