  • Delhi: At the launch of the book 'Waiting For Shiva', Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain says, "...There are continuous attempts made by the members of the Muslim community who are going to offer 'namaz' there every day. They are coming in large numbers over the said cellar so that the roof can be demolished (collapsed) and in turn, the 'pooja' can be stopped. So these are the attempts made by the members of the Muslim community. We have filed an application before the district judge of Varanasi wherein we have asked that the namazis must be restricted so far as their entry is concerned over the roof of the cellar. Apart from that, the repair work must be conducted in the said cellar so that the 'pooja' which has been ordered by the court can go on without any hindrance..."

  • PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate the BAPS Swaminarayan temple in Abu Dhabi, the first Hindu temple in the Gulf nation.

    #BAPSHinduMandir
    Interesting Facts!
A Muslim king donated land for a Hindu Mandir, where the lead architect is a Catholic Christian, the project manager a Sikh, the foundational designer a Buddhist, the construction company a Parsi group, and the director comes from the Jain tradition.

Spread over 27 acres, the temple complex is on 13.5 acres, with a parking area of 13.5 acres that can accommodate around 1,400 cars and 50 buses. The 13.5 acres of land was gifted by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE in 2019.
    Dimensions-

Among the key architectural features are 96 bells and gaumukhs installed around the path leading to the temple. These 96 bells are a tribute to Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s 96 years of life.

Nano tiles have been used, to comfort for visitors to walk on even in the hot weather.

    Height - 108 ft
    Length - 262 ft
    Width - 180 ft

Exterior - Pink sandstone from Rajasthan
    Interior - Italian marbles.

A total of 20,000 tonnes of stones and marble was shipped in 700 containers for the temple.

More than Rs 700 crore was spent on the construction.
Lord Ram, Sita, Lakshman and Hanuman, Lord Shiv, Parvati, Ganpati, Kartikeya, Lord Jagannath, Lord Radha-Krishna, Akshar-Purushottam Maharaj (Bhagwan Swaminarayan and Gunatitanand Swami), Tirupati Balaji and Padmavati and Lord Ayappa have been featured in the temple.

The seven shikhars are representative of the seven Emirates of the UAE.

The temple also has some special features, like a ‘holy river’ surrounding it, for which waters from Ganga and Yamuna have been brought in. The river Saraswati has been depicted in the form of white light. A Varanasi-like ghat has been created where the ‘Ganga’ passes.

A Wall of Harmony, one of the largest 3D-printed walls in the UAE, features a video showcasing key milestones of the temple’s construction.

The word ‘harmony’ has been written in 30 different ancient and modern languages.

Apart from 15 value tales from Indian civilisation, stories from the Maya civilisation, Aztec civilisation, Egyptian civilisation, Arabic civilisation, European civilisation, Chinese civilisation and African civilisation have been depicted.

Other amenities include an assembly hall with a capacity of 3,000 people, a community centre, exhibitions, classrooms, and a majlis venue.

  • Mamata Banerjee expressed skepticism about Congress winning even 40 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, stating, "I don't know if Congress can secure 40 out of 300 seats. Why the arrogance? You visited Bengal; we are part of the INDI alliance. Inform me at least; I got to know from the administration. If you're brave enough, challenge the BJP in Varanasi. You're losing in places where you previously won!"

Highlighting the electoral challenges, she added, "We haven't won in Uttar Pradesh, and you haven't won in Rajasthan. Go and secure victories in those constituencies. Show me your courage. Win in Allahabad, win in Varanasi. Let's see the audacity of your party!"

  • The Hindu women plaintiffs in the Gyanvapi case will approach the Supreme Court to request the opening of sealed cellars in the Varanasi mosque.

The plaintiffs' advocate, Vishnu Shankar Jain, contended that these cellars were believed to contain crucial evidence of a Hindu Mandir predating the current edifice, as revealed in last week's ASI survey report.

Jain will also present another plea before SC. This seeks an ASI survey of the sealed "wuzukhana (ablution water tank)" on the Gyanvapi premises. The tank has been sealed since May 16, 2022, after the Hindu side claimed that a "Shivling" was found there during an earlier court-mandated survey.
