  • A Once-in-a-Lifetime Ritual for Royce, Drayush & Yajna 🙏

    Dear Friends and Well-Wishers,

We would like to take a moment to share a very special milestone in our children’s lives – a sacred journey that recently took place in our family. ❤️

Royce and Drayush recently underwent their Upanayan Sanskar, the Janeu or sacred thread ceremony, an ancient rite of passage in Hindu Dharma that signifies the formal beginning of a child’s journey into knowledge, self-discipline, and righteous living. As described in our Vedas and Shastras, this ritual marks the start of Brahmacharya Ashram – the phase of life focused on learning and personal growth. It is not just a cultural tradition but a spiritual awakening and a lifelong foundation for character building.

The celebrations began with the beautiful and vibrant Kasar Batne ceremony. Surrounded by close family members, we blessed Royce, Yajna and Drayush with love and laughter while singing traditional songs, dancing with joy, and making the symbolic kasar laddoos. This joyful prelude set the tone for what would become one of the most unforgettable events of our lives.

Later that evening, we held the traditional Haldi ceremony, where turmeric paste was applied to the children with prayers for purity, health, and protection. The house echoed with music and dance late into the night, bringing everyone – young and old – together in celebration.

The next day was the main Upanayan ritual, led by our family priest. It was a long but powerful day, stretching from early morning to late evening. Despite the exhaustion, all Royce, Drayush and Yajna (who also underwent her Gunyo Cholo ceremony) stayed calm, respectful, and engaged throughout. Their grace and composure in such a spiritually intense event showed us that the first lesson of this ritual — to control one’s anger, ego, and frustration and to adapt with humility — had already begun to take root. 🙏

This entire ceremony was made possible with the immense support and dedication of Royce’s and Yajna's mama (maternal uncle) and extended family. Without their love and effort, we could never have imagined celebrating with such warmth and scale. Over 700 relatives, villagers, and well-wishers gathered to bless our children — truly a humbling and unforgettable experience.
    With love,
    Yubaraj & Rita Sedai
    (Parents of Royce & Yajna)

  • Upma was served in a breakfast every morning in a hostel with a capacity of 100 people. Out of those 100 people, 80 people used to complain every day that different items should be made instead of upma.
But, the other 20 people were happy to eat upma. The remaining 80 people wanted to cook something other than upma.

The hostel warden voting method was proposed as some decision had to be reached in this chaotic situation.

According to this, whichever tiffin gets the most votes, that tiffin will be cooked that day.*

20 students who wanted Upma cast their vote accurately. The remaining 80 people cast their vote as follows.

    18 - Masala Dosa
    16 - Aloo Parotta & Dahi
    14 - Roti & Subg
    12 - Bread & Butter
    10 - Noodles
    10 - Idli Sambar

So, as per the voting results, Upma gets the highest number of votes, and again the same is served every day.

Lesson: As long as 80% of the population is selfish, divided and scattered, 20% will rule us.

    This is a silent message.

  • Why I feel the film #SabarmatiReport is a must watch. Let me share my views:

    1. The effort is particularly commendable because it brings out the important truth of one of the most shameful events in our recent history.

    2. The makers of the film handled this issue with a lot of sensitivity and dignity.

    3. On a larger point, it is worth introspection for all of us as to how the brutal burning of passengers of the Sabarmati Express was turned into a political minefield by a vested interest group, who saw it as a means to tarnish the image of one leader. Their ecosystem peddled one lie after another other just to satisfy their own petty agenda.

    4. Finally 59 innocent victims got to speak for themselves. Yes, as they say, truth alone triumphs. This movie is indeed a fitting tribute to those 59 innocent men, women and children we lost that February morning. https://x.com/alok_bhatt/status/1858081282649149867?s=46&t=k7DOzt02q2xVLz7J4o4Rmg

  • The Ayurvedic Clock...

Which divides the day into different time periods, each associated with specific doshas (Kapha, Pitta, and Vata)

and activities that align with the body’s natural rhythms. Here's a brief breakdown:

    ◆ 1. Dawn (Kapha Period) - 6 AM to 10 AM

Ideal time to gather energy, prepare for the day, complete elimination, eat lightly, and exercise.

    ◆ 2. Day (Pitta Period) - 10 AM to 2 PM

A good time for high-energy activities, organizing, planning, taking action, and having the heaviest meal as digestion is strongest.

    ◆ 3. Afternoon (Vata Period) - 2 PM to 6 PM

Best suited for communication, socializing, movement, and completing tasks that require creativity.

    ◆ 4. Dusk (Kapha Period) - 6 PM to 10 PM

Slow down, eat a lighter meal, prepare for rest, and transition to nighttime activities.

◆ 5. Night (Pitta and Vata Periods) - 10 PM to 6 AM

Deep sleep and transformation occur. Around midnight, deep assimilation and cleansing processes are active. Early morning hours (2-6 AM) are associated with light sleep and subconscious processing.

This rhythm supports optimal health by aligning daily habits with natural cycles.

  • No amount of money can buy a life. No guilt or regret can change the past. We can't always be happy and right, but we can always choose to live each day happily and make things count.

    Good morning.
Have a great day ahead !
