A convict in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts case, Munna alias Mohammed Ali Khan alias Manojkumar Bhavarlal Gupta (59), was murdered by a group of undertrials at the Kolhapur Central Prison, located at Kalamba in Kolhapur district of Maharashtra, on Sunday morning. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) announced on Sunday that its flagship Mundra Port has set a new record by hosting the largest container ship ever to visit an Indian port. Turkish police announced on Sunday that they have arrested three Pakistanis on charges of kidnapping an Indian citizen in the city of Edirne. The country’s police stated that the kidnappers demanded two million Indian rupees, equivalent to $24,000, from the family of the Indian individual. Turkish media added that Radhakrishnan, a young Indian who had come to Turkey for work, was washing dishes at a restaurant in Istanbul. According to reports, about a month ago, three Pakistani asylum seekers lured Radhakrishnan to Edirne under the pretext of securing him a job at a translation company and then abducted him. After a friend of the young man contacted the Turkish police, security authorities of the country rescued him in a house in Edirne through an operation. Turkish police told the media that the kidnappers had tied the hands and feet of this young man and threatened his family by sending them a video. According to reports, during the Turkish police operation at the Pakistani asylum seekers’ house, an unlicensed firearm, four pistols, and a sum of money were discovered and seized. The Inter-Services Organisations (Command, Control and Discipline) Act has been notified by the Indian government. This Act will pave the way for the creation of unified theatre commands, marking the most radical military reorganization since Independence. The Act received presidential assent on August 15 last year 2023 and was passed by Parliament during the monsoon session. The enforcement of the ISO Act comes after the BJP manifesto promised to establish military theatre commands for more efficient operations, following the creation of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) post in December 2019. CDS General Anil Chauhan chaired a “Parivartan Chintan” where 12 sub-committees made presentations on different domains and aspects towards jointness and integration, in light of the imminent theaterisation.
