*Kathmandu, Mangsir 24 -* In a dazzling celebration of musical artistry, the Achyutaram Bhandari Music Institute mesmerized the town of Rautahat. The occasion unfolded at Shree Munna English Residential School in Ward No. 5, on the auspicious occasion of the Silver Jubilee of the institution. The institute, dedicated to the promotion of classical and traditional Nepali music, showcased a symphony of melodies, earning accolades for its commitment to the cultural heritage.

As the artists of the Achyutaram Bhandari Music Institute graced the venue, they were warmly welcomed by five talented young girls from the school. The institute took the opportunity to impart the essence of classical and traditional Nepali music to students and teachers alike, engaging them in a three-hour session that delved into the intricacies of classical and indigenous Nepali music. The session also offered insights into instruments like tabla, madal, sitar, bansuri, and both Nepali and Indian sarangi.

Achyutaram Bhandari, the patron of the Achyutaram Bhandari Music Institute, highlighted the importance of classical music, emphasizing that despite its significance, the current state of classical music in Nepal lacked adequate recognition from the government. He commended Shree Munna English Residential School for acknowledging the value of classical music and providing a platform for music enthusiasts in Kathmandu.

The event commenced with a soul-stirring solo performance on the sarangi by Achyutaram Bhandari, accompanied by Pandit Parshuram Bhandari. Subsequent acts featured enchanting performances by Dr. Niranjan Bhandari on the bansuri, Pandit Ramkumar Aryal on the sitar, and Pandit Parshuram Bhandari on the sarangi, presenting a diverse array of ragas and folk melodies. Local artist Ram Bahadur Ghalan also captivated the audience with his mastery of the bansuri, showcasing various local tunes.

The program extended honors to both local and visiting artists from Kathmandu, recognizing their contribution to the musical landscape. Neelhari Koiral, the Ward Chairman of Chandrapur Municipality in Rautahat, shared his commitment to promoting classical music and encouraged young girls to embark on the journey of learning classical music from an early age.

Laxmi Shrestha, Chairperson of the school management committee, expressed the institution's commitment to providing quality education along with practical knowledge of music. She urged the students to not only excel in academics but also to embrace the beauty of music. In closing, she extended an invitation to the Achyutaram Bhandari Music Institute to continue collaborating with the school, offering music training and presentations for the students in the future.

The musical extravaganza in Rautahat not only showcased the rich cultural heritage of Nepal but also ignited a spark of enthusiasm among the youth, encouraging them to explore the world of classical and traditional Nepali music. As the echoes of melodies lingered in the air, the event left an indelible mark on the hearts of the audience, fostering a deeper appreciation for the timeless art form.
