Description
Sanatan Dharma, often referred to as Hinduism in the modern context, is one of the world's oldest living religions, originating from the Indian subcontinent. The term "Sanatan Dharma" translates to "eternal duty" or "eternal order," reflecting its timeless principles and spiritual teachings. This ancient tradition encompasses a diverse range of philosophies, rituals, cultural practices, and spiritual paths, all aimed at understanding and realizing the ultimate truth (Brahman) and the inherent unity of all existence.
Central to Sanatan Dharma are the sacred texts, including the Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, and Ramayana, which provide profound insights into metaphysics, ethics, and the nature of the self. The religion advocates for the practice of Dharma (righteousness), Artha (prosperity), Kama (pleasure), and Moksha (liberation) as the four goals of human life, guiding adherents towards a balanced and fulfilling existence.
Sanatan Dharma also emphasizes the importance of rituals, festivals, and pilgrimages, fostering a deep sense of community and continuity. It promotes principles such as Ahimsa (non-violence), Satya (truth), and compassion, encouraging individuals to live in harmony with nature and society. With its rich tapestry of deities, philosophies, and practices, Sanatan Dharma offers a comprehensive spiritual framework that continues to inspire and guide millions of people worldwide in their quest for spiritual growth and enlightenment.
