India in grip of silent salt consumption epidemic: ICMR-NIE

Excessive salt intake in India is driving a health crisis, increasing the risk of hypertension and related diseases. Scientists at ICMR-NIE are conducting a community-based study in Punjab and Telangana to promote low-sodium salt substitutes and counseling. This initiative aims to reduce blood pressure and sodium consumption, addressing the alarmingly high salt intake exceeding WHO recommendations.
