In an evening filled with musical brilliance, the Achyutram Bhandari Music Institute witnessed a mesmerizing sitar performance. Renowned Indian sitarist Dr. Rajesh Shah and Nepal's distinguished sitarist Uma Thapa collaborated to weave captivating melodies through their sitar renditions.

Collaboration with Tabla Maestro Achyutram Bhandari
Accompanied by tabla maestro Pt. Achyutram Bhandari, the duo presented a seamless fusion of sitar and tabla, enchanting the audience gathered at the National Dance Theatre, Jamal, Kathmandu.

Musical Journey and Farewell Tribute
Dr. Rajesh Shah, former Dean and current head of the sitar department at Banaras Hindu University, graced the occasion with his presence. The farewell program organized in honor of Dr. Shah featured a collaborative sitar performance by him and Uma Thapa.

Presence of Dignitaries and Scholars
The event saw the presence of eminent personalities from Tribhuvan University's Lalit Kala Central Department, including Prof. Dr. Dhruvachandra Regmi, along with instructors, students, and enthusiasts.

Workshops and Discussions
To commemorate Dr. Shah's visit, workshops and discussions on sitar were organized by Tribhuvan University's Lalit Kala Central Department. Additionally, Achyutram Bhandari Music Institute hosted workshops focusing on sitar playing techniques.

Pioneering Recording by Radio Nepal
Radio Nepal, Nepal's first radio station established in 1951, recorded Dr. Rajesh Shah's solo sitar performance during his Kathmandu visit. Since its inception in 2007, Radio Nepal has been actively promoting classical music programs.

Continuing Musical Legacy
Dr. Rajesh Shah's participation in nationwide musical events underscores the continuous efforts to uphold and promote classical music. The Achyutram Bhandari Music Institute, in its own initiative, regularly organizes classical music programs featuring various artists, contributing to the preservation of this rich musical heritage.
